Start with decisions
A useful dashboard begins with the decision an operator needs to make. Request rate, error rate, duration, and saturation are strong foundations, but every panel should answer a clear operational question.
Alerts need ownership
An alert should identify who responds, what impact it represents, and which first diagnostic step to take. If nobody can act on a signal, it belongs in a dashboard or report rather than the paging path.
